We’re off to the ALGA ecoforum in Brisbane this month

Industrial Environmental Services is proud to join The Australasian Land & Groundwater Association’s (ALGA) biennial ecoforum conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre from 28-30 October 2025.

As an exhibitor, we’ll have a presence at the conference. You can find us at booth number 47 which is close to the entrance. Drop in for a chat.

This year’s conference is titled ‘From contamination to restoration: project, sustain, thrive’.  As ALGA’s flagship event, this conference brings together industry professionals – from academics and environmental consultants through to commercial remediation solution service providers like us – to network, build connections, share leading-edge information, and learn from one another.

The conference offers an information-rich program with local and international speakers articulating challenges faced by the industry and sharing new perspectives on how to address them. As delegates, we’re looking forward to both catching up with industry peers while also joining several presentations.

Four presentations which have piqued our interest include:

Gene Hoilman, Contaminated Lands Manager, WSP will present Here, There, and Everywhere: 6PPD-q, An Emerging (Emerged?) Contaminant. Gene will talk about a degraded product of tyre additive 6PPD which has already been detected in Australian waterways and poses a potential risk to aquatic life. He’ll talk about new sources which hint towards this contaminant being more prevalent than we think.

Emily Brown, Water Remediation Engineer, Photon Remediation Technology Australia P/L will present Trial application of Waterguard Nano™ for a low cost, low energy ex-situ PFAS treatment of leachate ponds. Emily will share results a pilot trial of a low-energy electrochemical system for treating PFAS in landfill leachate. She’ll discuss how the approach may support landfill operators meet evolving environmental regulations with minimal infrastructure or operational costs.

Cameron Marshall, Applications Engineer, ECT2 will present Novel Wastewater Treatment Process for PFAS Removal. Cameron’s presentation will focus on a novel sorption media that enmeshes in biological solids, providing a cost-effective solution for PFAS removal tailored to biological systems.

Shandel Coleman, Director & Contaminated Land Auditor, Luna Environmental will present The challenges of remediating a friable asbestos impacted site for residential redevelopment. Shandel will talk about the audit and remediation of a friable asbestos-impacted site earmarked for residential redevelopment. She’ll highlight the challenges with undocumented historical works, data gaps, and lessons learned to inform future projects involving redevelopment of asbestos impacted land.
